Balding, gin soaked, bad tempered rhinoceros Führer, music head!!
Fantastic. I was at this and have been looking for a copy since, well, since then. Was the whole concert recorded? The last time I checked on the usual places this didn't seem to be 'out there'. It was an extremely chaotic gig with stage invasion after stage invasion and lots of interruptions.
My learned friend recorded the gig but the batteries died on his TR so it sounded like most of the gig was under water... Then the tape got chewed.. I have salvaged some with sellotape & a razor blade but there are only 2/3 tracks I can listen to.. I'm surprised there are no other recordings of it.. Being honest I would normally make an effort to try & recover what I have & stick it on a storage site but as they all seem to be displaying differing levels of cunttage. I just can't be arsed to have an argument with a dumbfuck automated emails. The actual gig I didn't think that boisterous.. They did an encore.. I think there was a bit of a kerfuffle i the dressing room, as allegedly some dullards tried to get in & grab the rider while they were playing... Compared to the Reading gig it was uber fun.. Reading was very dark, Mozzer getting a good coating of gob & flouncing off... More of a pissed up rugger buggers ball than a SMITHS crowd...
I was there.Warren Warton was the union entertainment officer and got them for a £1000 just before they released "This Charming Man" It was a great gig
I was there, my first Smiths gig.I didn't know too much about them at the time but girl I was with who was at the Poly kept me informed.I remember it being mobbed and most importantly about 40p a pintAs a local the union bar on college road was the place to be,cheap ale, great music and always a party afterwards and birds who weren't from Stoke.
